TITLE "Flow Chart 1—Interpretation"PRODUCT DESCRIPTIONAs seen in Rowland B. Wilson’s Trade Secrets, Notes on Cartooning and Animation (Focal Press, 2012)— Rowland B. Wilson developed a systematic approach that could be applied to any type of art, from a cartoon or illustration, to a graphic novel, to an animated feature. These Flow Charts divide the creative process into three stages, Interpretation, Composition and Rendition. They provide a solid procedural basis from concept through design to execution. Chart I—Interpretation addresses the concept or original idea. In much the way a director would proceed, it starts with “The Act” (the script) and moves through “The Scene”, where the setting, characters, background, atmosphere, lighting, costume and props are created. Caricature is explored in depth through the emphasis on proportion, metaphor, emotional heightening, perspective, organic/geometric and gesture distortion. Each Flow Chart provides a visual checklist that can be consulted at a glance to monitor and streamline your workflow..PRODUCT DETAILSArtist: Rowland B.
